The Importance of Vetting Sales Training Programs

Vetting Sales Training Programs Is Important

Sales training is an important part of any business but finding the right service can be tricky.

A Pennsylvania woman recently filed a lawsuit against a sales training marketer, claiming that its methods constituted “religious indoctrination,” reports The Associated Press.

While the lawsuit has yet to play out, Barrett Riddleberger, the CEO of Resolution Systems, Inc., a sales consulting firm, says that it illustrates the importance of vetting a sales training provider before hiring them.

The executive lists a number of factors that one should be sure to look for when hiring such a service.

One of the first things to keep in mind is the experience of the sales training organization. Having veteran sales trainers is essential to the success of a program.

Riddleberger also says that making sure the sales training company’s philosophy gels with that of one’s firm is essential.

“There must be alignment between your sales/business philosophy and those of the sales training company,” he said.

Riddleberger also says that doing a pilot program with the sales training firm can help one identify whether or not their approach is the best for his or her company. In addition, post training evaluations can be an effective way to see how much of an impact the program had, according to the Resolution Systems, Inc. CEO.
